About Us

本研究プロジェクトでは、歴史学、水文学、気候・気象学の研究者が協働し、水と人との関係に着目して、新しいアジア史像を探っている。モンスーンと季節的降雨が広域にわたって大きな影響を及ぼすこと、域内の多くの地域が、海・河川・湖沼等からなる水系に囲まれた地形、すなわち「水圏」であるということという、域内社会経済を相俟って規定する水をめぐる二つの条件から、地域としてのまとまりをもったアジア史を構想すること（目的／Objectives）と、その為に、理工学系と人文社会科学系双方の学知を取り入れたデータベース（DB）の構築と分析を行うこと（研究手法／Methods and Disciplines）は、プロジェクトの二つの柱として結びついている。
